A great visit to the Maritime Museum

maritimemuseum800.jpg

It must be obvious that we are getting stir crazy waiting for spring to arrive.  We are hitting all the great indoor spots before the spring weather pulls us outside.

Of all the indoor spots that I like to visit, the Maritime Museum in Beaufort is my favorite.  I have found it rarely crowded and always enjoyable.  It is also just the right size to spend an hour or so looking at exhibits.

A visit to the NC Aquarium in Pine Knoll Shores

aquarium.jpg

Thursday of this week we decided to drive down to Pine Knoll Shores for a visit to the NC Aquarium.  We have been at least three times before, but we enjoy every visit.  We always find something new.

This time we decided to buy a family membership so could come more often.  It was a great day to visit since the temperatures were in the mid-sixties when we got there.  We planned to do a little hiking.

February warmth, a southern birthright

whiteoakafterrain.jpg

This is one of those February days that you would have to work very hard to not enjoy.  Last night we got a nice rain which was a lot better than snow or even dealing with snow envy.

I am happy to report that the window in my upstairs office is open and my view is close to that of the picture included in the post.  Actually most of the difference is that I have a cat sitting in the window.

Warm temperatures get us on the river

theclammer.jpg

The last five days here on the coast have been a welcome way to erase the memories of the colder than normal weather which we endured for a couple of weeks.  I have complained enough about the cold weather, but I have to state that we only had a couple of days when we struggled to get out of the upper thirties so most people would laugh at our cold.

This spell of warm weather could not have come at a better time.  Most of us were wondering what had happened to the great weather of the last two winters.
