Living in a rural area has many pleasures, but few are tastier than local produce.  We are really lucky here on the Crystal Coast because we have a great climate for growing vegetables, soil that is easy to work, and some farmers with the skill to provide us with fantastic vegetables in the summer.

If the truth is known, we get most of what people consider summer vegetables even before summer gets here.  We have already progressed to corn and tomatoes which often do not come in even in the North Carolina Piedmont until July.
