Evening Beach Relaxation

Even  we beach residents have some stress.  This morning we ran some errands, and then we decided to stay in out of the heat.  I had a contract website project that I needed three hours to finish so it was a good thing to do on a hot day.

However, I had planned for some beach relaxation late in the evening.  About twenty minutes until eight PM this evening after we had finished dinner, we headed over to Emerald Isle.  I had packed one of my spinning rods, some shrimp, and gear for some bottom fishing.

Some relaxing kayaking on the White Oak with a little excitement

Finally all the elements cooperate so that I can enjoy a few hours kayaking on the White Oak River.  A few times earlier this spring I tried ot venture out on the White Oak.  Unfortunately each time the winds were strong enough to convince me to head back to shore after a short time on the river.

Today was different.  I knew that as I paddled out into the river.  There was just a slight breeze as I did the short paddle from Bluewater Cove to the White Oak.  There was one particular area that I had been wanting to fish all year so I headed straight for it.  read more »

Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament

One of the largest sport fishing tournaments in the country is heading to the Crystal Coast June 6-13 in Morehead City. It has been held since 1957. Winning game fish will be determined by weight and daily weigh ins are scheduled at approximately 5pm on the Morehead waterfront. Topics include the following: the history of the area, studies of charts used for piloting and navigation, regulations for recreational boats, safety equipment, distress signals and much more.
