Fall Colors on the Coast

What a great time of year.  I love waking up and walking out to get the paper this time of year.

As I turn and look back at our home, I can see the sun warming the roof and steam twirling up into the clear blue skies.  Behind our home the water in the gut  is just under 70 degrees.  It  is also producing some steam early in the morning.

The grass is still green, but there are some onions that need pulling out of our yard.  It won't be long be before we will be planting our winter pansies and putting on the winter weed killer.

The area waters are finally starting to clear after all the runoff from last week's storm and its nearly 21 inches of rain.  When we stopped by Third Street Beach yesterday, the ocean had returned to that beautiful emerald color that it gets when conditions are nice.

People were actually out in the water enjoying themselves.  Later in the day, I took a client and her sister on a boat ride.  The sister is actually the wife of a friend who worked for me at Apple.  So it was more like taking a couple of friends on a boat tour.

We just had a few minutes so we raced down the White Oak River to Swansboro to view the Mullet Festival from the water.  From all appearances, the festival looks to be as well attended as it has been the past few years.

We ended up being guests at a dinner at Fairway after the boat ride. Afterward we dropped down to Swansboro to see what was still happening late in the evening.  We did see a couple of tipsy party goers headed home after the downtown Swansboro music, but the streets were still blocked off so we couldn't get close to see what was happening.

Our plans are to actually visit the Mullet Festival today, so I will post some pictures if we manage to get there.  It is hard to get everything in when the weather is this perfect.

Yesterday in addition to the boat ride, beach visit, and showing homes, we managed to enjoy some delicious Episcopalian lobsters.

It was a great day.  I hope today turns out as nice.
