I wish we could bottle this weather

The Crystal Coast has seen an amazing run of fantastic weather the last couple of weeks.

In fact if last week was your choice for a week at the beach, I would love for you to help me with my next lottery ticket.

I managed to get two days out on the water, and they were memorable days.

The first day was Thursday, and we went down the Intracoastal over to Hammocks Beach-Bear Island and worked our way over to the Point and Bogue Inlet eventually.

We did figure out that Bogue Inlet looked a lot better than it did earlier in the year.  We found a nice place to fish just north of the channel where it cuts back down in front of the beaches at Hammocks Beach.

Friday, we fished the marshes near Swansboro, and then headed back out the Inlet.  I found a spot in a little deeper water just off Hammocks Beach.  It turned out to be a good spot.  I caught eight bluefish there.  We stopped on our way back to Bluewater Cove at one of our favorite holes and caught a couple of trout.

That's enough fish to say that fishing is looking up.  I have spent much of the week working on real estate related things including a website for one of my listings, 165 Hadnot Farm Road.

Thursday evening and Saturday morning, we ended up showing property. The
Saturday showings were in Morehead City so we took the opportunity to
have lunch at the Ruddy Duck on the waterfront.  My spinach salad with tuna was delicious.  My wife's flounder Reuben was huge.

There were plenty of boats on the water in the Morehead City harbor Saturday afternoon.  I am sorry that I wasn't riding in one of them.

Still I am always pleased to be busy, but you never want to be too busy to go fishing.

We have also had a couple of great evenings on the beach.  There are lots of surf fishermen showing up.  The water is still very warm, at least 80 degrees Fahrenheit.

It has been a wonderful run of great weather, and people have really been enjoying it.  It was bordering on hot, but the breezes out by the Inlet took care of that.

I am not even going to complain about any rain that shows up next week.  We are well ahead of the curve on great weather.

The weather has been so nice that I am going to just be thankful for what we have enjoyed.  We could use some rain.  I have got the boat cleaned up, and I could use a few days to catch up on my writing.

The only bad news that I have had is from Foursquare.  Someone replaced me as mayor of Salem Rotary Park.  It is a beautiful spot, but I think we have a little more water down here on the coast.

I plan to hold on to my mayor status for the Red Sixteen Buoy on the White Oak River.  The picture in today's post was taken just a few feet from Red Sixteen.
