A nice morning to look out my office window

Some mornings, things do not go exactly as planned.  I could blame technology, but the truth of the matter is that it is easy to forget little details in this complex world of ours even when you are living on the Southern Outer Banks on the edge of the technologically sophisticated world.

This morning I walked to the end of our driveway as I usually do each morning.  My Nikon 3100 camera with telephoto lens was strapped around my neck as it normally is.  The Bluewater Cove boat ramp is just a few feet from the end of our driveway.  As you look at this picture note the post at the corner of the boardwalk.

Much to my surprise a Kingfisher dropped out of the sky and perched on the post not twenty-five feet from me. I was inwardly smiling as I slowly raised my camera to my eye. It was only when my camera would not focus that I noticed that I had left the battery in the charger in the house.

With the knowledge that our Kingfisher is one of the more skittish of our birds and that I had just missed a really nice set of shots, I slowly walked back to the house and retrieved my battery and headed back to the boat ramp.  The Kingfisher did not even let me get out of the driveway before he flew.

I walked around the boardwalk as he danced through trees always just making any decent picture impossible.  I finally gave up and sat down on a bench that is on the boardwalk.

Just as I was bending down to get on the bench, a great blue heron flew from the marsh across from me.  It was then that I decided that I would have to make do with pansy or squirrel pictures this morning.

I headed back inside and after breakfast retired to my upstairs office where I have a pretty good view as you can see from the picture at the top of the post.  I finished up some work that I started last night on my new Wordpress Realtor® site.

As lunch has approached, I tweaked my monthly real estate site update and did a last check on real estate sites where I post custom searches to help buyers find the right properties.

It was good to get that all done so I can enjoy the out of doors this afternoon when it is warmer.

Being warmer is close to mind these days,  office is doubling as a greenhouse right now.  As of this morning I have something over thirty tomato seedlings.  I can almost taste the homegrown tomato sandwiches.

I am glad to see we are approaching sixty degrees at noon.  That is far better than the 37F we saw when I got up or even the 42F registering when I came back from my walk.

Of course when it is cool here, I always have a look at the temperatures up in Canada. They make me feel better.  Today is one of those ones when I cam glad to be in the US.  Our almost sixty degrees looks pretty good to me even if it is justthrough my office window.
