Emerald Isle

Blue skies and stirred up water

The Friday weather forecast called for storms and rain in the afternoon.  In an effort to catch some sun and surf before what seemed like a series of damps days, we headed to the beach Friday morning.

We wanted some peace and quiet also, so we headed up the island to Third Street Beach.  From our home it is seven miles to the intersection of Coast Guard Road and Emerald Drive (Route 58).  Third Street Beach is another eight miles up the beach.  With some traffic it usually takes us 20 minutes or so to get there.  read more »

However, I had planned for some beach relaxation late in the evening.  About twenty minutes until eight PM this evening after we had finished dinner, we headed over to Emerald Isle.  I had packed one of my spinning rods, some shrimp, and gear for some bottom fishing.

Living in Paradise

Why do I love living at the beach?  Could it be the warm ocean?  Could it be the sand between my toes?  Could it be the smell of the ocean?  The crisp air in the mornings?  Could it be the calm mood of everyone I am around?  (Most everyone is either on vacation or retired.)  read more »

Beach Time!

june2beachday.jpg

I think that we can safely say that memories of our "winter" are receding quickly.  Today's temperature over on the beach was in the upper eighties.  The whole week has been really nice with enough breeze picking up in the afternoon to keep us from cooking.

People are in the water and enjoying it.

Some folks coming to the beach are looking to cook themselves on the sand.  After the winter that many US areas just escaped, some warmth from the sand is a great way to renew your spirit.
